Christmas Ship Parade: OMSI to Fremont Bridge
- At 7:00PM, the Willamette Fleet assembles in front of Riverplace Marina. The parade will begin across the river in front of OMSI and travel downriver to the area of the Fremont Bridge. The fleet will then go under the bridge and turn around, to return to Riverplace Marina. The fleet will be out for about two hours.

About Doug Aberle
Doug Aberle has been a filmmaker since he was a teenager. He has been involved with numerous award
winning productions in his capacity as Director and Master Animator during his 18 year stay at Will Vinton Studios
in Portland, Oregon, from 1983 to 2001. Some of those projects include the animation special effects for
Disney’s Return To Oz (which received an Oscar nomination for Special Effects); A Claymation Christmas Special,
which aired on CBS television and won an Emmy for best special of 1987; sequences for Disney’s 3D theme park
epic Captain EO; and numerous commercials. In addition, Doug wrote and animated sequences for The Festival
of Claymation (a feature length theatrical film comprised of many of Will Vinton Studio’s short films); was the Animation
Director for Michael Jackson’s music video Speed Demon, and was the sole animator on Cool Tools, the studio’s first
computer animation project, which was done for Sesame Street through the Children’s Television Workshop. He has
also directed multiple episodes of GARY & MIKE, a 13 episode stop-motion TV show broadcast on UPN in 2001.
His projects under Aberle Films include the Internationally award winning films WIRE WE HERE (1994), FLUFFY (1995),
WIRED FOR THE HOLIDAYS (1996), FLUFFY’S BRAIN (1996), HAYWIRE HEART (1997), and THE DIRT ON MOM (1998).
More FLUFFY and WIRE WE HERE films are in the works, plus an experimental film dealing with death, karma, and
badminton.
2003 saw the completion of animation on EARTH STORIES: PALEONTOLOGY, a ½ hour children’s educational film
on Paleontology starring Chip the Rock Hammer. Doug is also preparing an animated educational series of films
called SPACE! that will be told from the point-of-view of a young boy in his own spaceship and will begin with a tour
of the planets. Doug has also directed 3 feature-length animated films; the first, SHIPWRECKED, will be released
in 2007. Doug’s current projects include development for his ½ hour TV series RAVELED. Several sample episodes
have been produced using high-end digital effects with sock puppets.
Doug lives with his wife, three children and five dogs in their home in Battle Ground, Washington. He volunteers his
time with the Battle Ground Rose Float Association; His float design for 2006 won top honors in the Portland Oregon
Grand Floral Parade, the second largest all-floral parade in the country.
