Cardboard Castle, Supergenius, CCC and Motion Capture

For a night dedicated to all things imagination, Cooper Johnson and his team at Cardboard Castle take a look at their process and techniques.  With heads down and tablets blazing, they have plenty to show and have been quietly turning out world-class, design-heavy motion and computer graphics work combining Cinema 4D and After Effects.  Additionally, Damon Redmond (of SuperGenius fame) and Clackamas Community College’s Digital Communications Media Director Andy Mingo are bringing the fancy new motion capture system and giving it the Portland debut it deserves.  A live motion capture demo will be part of the festivities.

VFX/PDX and OMSI’s Science Pub Seriers

The presenters will take the stage at the Crystal Ballroom in conjunction with OMSI’s Science Pub Series, a Tuesday night Portland event, dubbed “consistently clever social science,” complete with beer, and educational banter. Come early, hang out, and stay for the show!  We hope to see you there.

About Cardboard Castle — headed by the creative spirit of Cooper Johnson, Cardboard Castle is a motion production studio that creates innovative visual content. Our community of artists, storytellers and vision-makers are well versed in both digital and hands-on techniques. We draw, forge, strategize, originate, revamp, animate, digitize or illuminate at any stage in the campaign, looking beyond the castle walls to bring the sharpest vision into the light. For more information, visit About VFX/PDX — a collective of the Portland, Oregon area visual artists. Crossing studio boundaries, the aim is to occasionally bring everyone together to mix it up under the same roof, critique and promote each other’s work, learn new tricks, and share a drink.  The goal is to provide a conduit for provocative events and discussion that push us forward, upward, with no affiliation, agenda, or paid sponsors. We are about moving images that move us. For more information, visit About Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH — the Chapter serves the needs of the Oregon and Southwest Washington computer graphics community. Through meetings, workshops, conferences, and other activities; promotes an increased knowledge of and greater interest in the educational, artistic, and scientific aspects and applications of modern technology to graphics, enhancing communication between people in Oregon and Southwest Washington that have an interest in any aspect of computer graphics.
