HOMEBREW: A PDX Animation Showcase is an event long in the making. Celebrating recent works from the gamut of local animators, you’ll find the screening collection fun, refreshing and very Portland. Organized and moderated by Sophya Vidal, a long-standing member of the animation and theatre community, creative and thoughtful storytelling are at the core of the program. The screening will be followed by a panel with several of the creators, so bring your best questions and get to know your Portland Animation Ambassadors. This event is brought to you by The Animation resource Community Service (ARCS), Portland ASIFA, and Cascade SIGGRAPH. (3 hours).

Line-up includes works by Kurtis Hough, Beryl Allee, Curtis Randolph, and many more. Animation styles consist of Hand drawn 2D, 3D, Cut-out animation. Program is rated PG-13

The Freelancer’s Toolbox 1: Art Business Basics

This is the first of a three-part series designed to help digital artists, multimedia specialists and animators find the tools they need to be successful in business.

You’ve developed your skills. You’ve endured the all-nighters. You’ve honed your craft. You’e ready to go out there and build your career. Okay, now what?

Whether you’re a student, young professional, or an established freelancer, a common roadblock on the path to success is lack of business and financial resources for creative professionals. Knowledge is power, so empower yourself by learning business basics at the first of our Freelancer’s Toolbox Workshop Series. Facilitated by career creative freelancer turned financial advisor, Jonathan Bebe of AXA Advisors, educate yourself on how to build a financial foundation for your art business.

About Jonathan Bebe
Jonathan Bebe comes to AXA Advisors with more than 20 years of experience as a small business owner and entrepreneur as an on-screen talent and independent film producer. After a decade of traveling throughout Europe, South East Asia, and South America creating images and film, he returned to his home in Portland and earned his master’s in Counseling from Portland State, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Jonathan brings his entrepreneurial spirit into his financial practice, focusing on small business development and advocating for growth in the creative fields. He is involved in several non-profits including the National Brain Tumor Society, Basic Rights Oregon, Human Rights Campaign and several others.

Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH exists to serve the needs of the Oregon andSouthwest Washington computer graphics community. Through meetings, screenings workshops, conferences, networking and other activities, the chapter works to promote an increased knowledge of and greater interest in the educational, artistic, and scientific aspects and applications of modern technology to graphics, enhancing communication between colleagues that have an interest in any aspect of computer graphics.
